Since being in Pathways I have, slowly, discovered my voice. I have discovered a new confidence in myself that I lacked before being in Pathways.
Before Pathways, I would let people talk to me negatively, would never stick up for myself, and got taken advantage of in relationships. Due to my childhood, I have always been overly concerned with what people think of me and afraid of rejection. Through the support of everything Pathways offers, I’ve found my independence and confidence that I lacked.
After I graduate I would like to pursue a career in law enforcement as a police officer. I have been able to do several ride alongs with Long Beach Police Department and do not see myself doing anything else. Pursuing a career in law enforcement allows me to be someone else’s voice when they need it most.
